BaySEF™

      -  Navigation Signal Analysis & Performance


The BayNavTech™ Signal Evaluation Facility is a flexible high-end reception, processing and evaluation platform for the analysis and verification of Navigation Signals, for support of Frequency Coordination activities and for test of performance parameters of Navigation System Hardware elements.

Designed to meet the highly demanding requirements for navigation signal verification, it covers all relevant GNSS signals from the European Galileo* to the US-American GPS, but also Augmentation Systems like EGNOS or Pseudolites.

The core of BaySEF™ is a highly flexible software receiver, consisting of two equal transportable receiver systems with each six front-ends.

 

Key features:

  • Signal reception in 6 frequency bands:
    E5a, E5b, E5 (wideband), L2, E6 and L1
  • RF-bandwidth:40MHz for E5-signal
  • Full flexibility w.r.t. system requirements
    (type of input signal, processing & discriminator types...)
  • Capability of signal recording from 20 minute periods up to some hours
  • Real-time processing by FPGA based receiver channels
  • Offline processing with pure software receiver algorithms
  • Statistical evaluation of data output w.r.t. mean-value, drift and jitter

BaySEF™ Signal Analyses

Outputs:

  • Signal-to-Noise Ratio (C/No)
  • Code- and carrier phase of the signal
  • Undecoded / decoded Navigation Symbol Stream
  • Ionospheric dispersive effects
  • Receiver environment multipath effects
  • Interference degradations

Applications:

  • Assessment of the signal link performance
  • Determination of signal performance parameters
  • Analysis of navigation Intersystem signal performance degradations (e.g. Galileo* to other GNSS)
  • Analysis of interference with co-frequency band-users, e.g. Mobile Satellite Services, Distance Measurement Equipment, Ultra-Wideband...
  • Provision of transportable reference receiver units for all applications
  • Performance Parameters for Navigation System Hardware for space- & ground equipment:
    signal generator units, Rubidium Atomic Frequency Standard, navigation receivers and its components
    (antennas, frontends, back-ends, S/W algorithms)
